Jogen Chowdhury | Jogen Chowdhury Bio

Chowdhury was born in erstwhile Bengal, now Bangladesh and studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. In 1965, Chowdhury was awarded the French Government scholarship to study at the L’Ecole Nationale Superiere des Beaux Arts and Atelier 17, Paris. He was awarded the Prix le France de la Jeune Peinture, Paris in 1966 and honoured at the Biennale of Havana, Cuba. Chowdhury’s works have been exhibited in several shows including Delhi Triennials (1972, 1975 and 1978), the Sao Paolo Biennale (1979), the Havana Biennale (1986), ‘Festival of India’ in Geneva (1989), Hirschhorn Museum, Washington DC, Singapore Art Museum, Hong Kong Visual Art Centre, and at Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai. His works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Glenbarra Museum, Japan. Chowdhury lives and works in Santiniketan.
